On this independent variation of the Tour of Mont Blanc, we'll focus on our absolute favorite corners of the classic tour. We'll slow the pace a bit, spending extra time in the quiet side-valleys around Chamonix and Courmayeur, visiting world-class hotels and quaint inns, and hiking across enjoying unparalleled vistas.

You'll have two nights without your luggage, mixing stays in remote inns and huts with village hotels. You'll start with 2 nights in Chamonix, in a luxurious 4-star hotel, followed by a night in one of our favorite mountain inns in the nearby Bionnassay valley. The next day, a van transfer takes you from nearby les Contamines to the distinctive village of Courmayeur, on the Italian side of Mont Blanc. After a night in Courmayeur, hike through one of the most spectacular valleys in the Alps, the Italian Val Ferret, for a night in the very comfortable Bonatti hut. Finally, hike to the Ferret pass to peer into Switzerland before returning by bus to finish your tour in Courmayeur.

Your typical day starts with a continental buffet breakfast at our inn, which gives you the energy needed for a big day of hiking. Before setting out on your hike, visit a bakery and market for lunch supplies, or bring some money for a stop in one of the alpine restaurants along your route. Soon, you'll be out on the trail for 6-8 hours. With a couple of passes to cross, the hiking is often strenuous, but there will also be opportunities for easier days.

our simple inn at Bionnassay is a quaint and beautiful stop on your independent Mont Blanc tourYou should finish your hike around 4-5 pm, giving you time to wash up, relax, and gaze upon Mont Blanc and the surrounding scenery. After that, enjoy a delicious dinner at your inn or on your own in town. These are multi-course feasts, featuring delicious local French and Italian specialties. A hearty meal provides a satisfying end to your day.
